Community Safety
Community safety is more than just concerns about crime. Community safety encompasses various factors, including motor vehicle accidents, firearm fatalities, homicides, suicides, and drug overdoses. These measures reflect the overall health and safety of a community and are influenced by factors such as economic stability, access to healthcare, mental health resources, and law enforcement efforts. For example, are roadways safe to travel? If you are in a serious accident, will first responders be able to render aid and get you to the hospital quickly?
Higher rates of injury-related deaths can indicate areas where additional community support and resources are needed to improve safety and well-being. Understanding these trends helps identify opportunities for targeted interventions and collaborative efforts to create safer environments for all residents. This measure is reported at the county level and per 100,000 people. Bulloch County has lower rates of death by accident or injury than the surrounding communities.
